Job Overview
Pavilion Farms is hiring a reliable and hardworking Poultry Farm Hand for its broiler farm in Carisbrook, Victoria. The farm is approximately 10 minutes from Maryborough.
This hands-on role involves caring for poultry, maintaining clean and healthy chicken sheds, and completing general farm maintenance. The successful applicant will work alongside a small team under the supervision of a Farm Manager.
Pavilion Farms is a family-owned Victorian poultry business with a history dating back to 1975. The company operates multiple farms and provides training in animal welfare, biosecurity, and shed management.
Previous poultry or farm experience is helpful but not essential. Training will be provided to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
The Poultry Farm Hand will perform several daily farm duties, including:
- Keeping chicken sheds clean, dry, and healthy.
- Maintaining litter quality and cleaning drinkers and feeders.
- Checking for leaks, spills, and other shed maintenance issues.
- Assisting with chick placement and bird collection.
- Cleaning sheds between poultry batches.
- Mowing and completing minor farm maintenance.
- Keeping the farm site clean and organised.
- Following biosecurity and animal welfare procedures.
- Recording completed tasks through digital applications.
Job Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking attitude.
- Willingness to start work early.
- Ability to work weekends according to the roster.
- Physical fitness for outdoor work in different weather conditions.
- Comfort working in dusty poultry sheds.
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
- Own transport due to the rural work location.
- Full legal working rights in Australia.
Previous poultry, livestock, or general farm experience is an advantage but not required. Forklift licences and tractor or machinery experience are also beneficial.
Applicants must not keep backyard poultry or pet birds, or work for another poultry business during their employment.
